Fashion is awesome. I mean how cool is it that we can express ourselves in any way we want to? Wanna look like you're about to walk a red carpet? Go for it. Wanna look homeless for a day? By all means. There's endless options. As for me It's a little harder to look put together everyday when I'm on a very tight budget. I'm an 18 year old, soon to be college student. I'm broke to say the least. So that's why I've come up with these 5 tips to improve your style on a budget.

1. Thrifting / DIY I cannot stress this enough you guys. Goodwill is my second home. Almost a quarter of my closet is thrifted. I promise you will not regret going there. It might take some digging and slight preparation, but It's so worth it in the end. Just keep these 3 ideas in your head while shopping at a thrift store. 1. Is there anything specific you're looking for? 2. could it be altered / adjusted in any way? 3. could you see yourself wearing it? If you ask yourself these questions, thrifting will be a 110% easier. I usually get all my graphic tees and boyfriend jeans there. I go through the mens t-shirt section and find shirts that I could see myself wearing and I cut them into crop tops when I get home. Trust me, thrifting will save you bank while still looking bangin' on a budget.

2. Statement Shoes You can take any boring old outfit and spice it up with some good statement shoes. For example: a t-shirt with some boyfriend jeans is a pretty basic outfit right? Put on bright colored shoes or a good heel, and immediatley you look 10x more put together. When shopping for shoes don't be afraid of something that looks "too crazy." Go out of your comfort zone and get those shoes you keep second guessing. Chances are you won't regret it.

3. Stepping out of your comfort zone Going along with what I said earlier, you'll never regret getting those shoes you keep second guessing. This rule goes with every clothing item. When shopping get something different, something you usually wouldn't get. Being unique when it comes to fashion is hard. Everyone starts following the same trends, and it starts to get boring. If you want to look like a statement, be unique and different with the clothing items you purchase. People will notice and think you know what you're doing when in reality you actually have no idea.

4. Accessories This is probably a given, but adding accessories to your outfit can change it immensely. For me I always have earrings in, whether that be hoops or studs. I feel so plain without them. Necklaces are also a huge deal when wanting to look more presentable. Spicing up your neck line makes all the difference. My favorite necklaces at the moment are gold chokers. Pair a gold choker with a cute bralette peaking out of your shirt seriously looks so cute. Lastly, rings. Having your nails done with some cute stackable rings makes all the difference in your outfit. I always get all my jewelry and accessories at Forever 21 for super cheap.

5. Online shopping Lastly, online shopping. Okay I get It, It's fun to have clothing that is name brand. It makes you look like you have life figured out. For me, I rather shop in the clearance section of an online store, and get 5 cute things instead of an expensive store and only get 1 thing. There's so many cute online stores you can shop at, and get good quality clothing. My favorite online stores are Boohoo, Lulus, Necessary clothing, and Forever 21. Seriously so much more worth it.

No, I do not think of my self as a fashion guru. These are just some of the tips I've been using to improve my style, and they sure as heck work! I think It's so cool that we are able to express ourselves in different ways. Looking different is cool. Don't follow all the trends, break the rules every once in a while.
